The Legislative Session kicked off this week with lawmakers returning to Albany on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. Many Members arrived to two very different Chambers– the Democrats now control the majority of seats in the State Senate and the Assembly welcomed a record number of new members.
The State Senate also made history by electing its first female, African American Majority leader, Andrea Stewart-Cousins.
On the same day, Governor Cuomo announced that he will deliver his combined State of the State and budget address on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 in Albany.
